Tour of Exomburgos in Tinos
A very interesting circular route where we have the opportunity to get to know three Catholic villages of the inland. In Loutra we have the opportunity to visit the museum of the Ursuline Monastery which is of great folklore interest. In 1862 it was founded as a monastery by the Order of Ursulines and later it was used as a girls’ school, which was considered a model throughout Europe. The premises have remained intact, taking the visitor to another era. The museum is only open during the summer months…
Next we climb up to the village of Koumaros and then we reach Exomvourgo which is the 2nd largest mountain of Tinos. There we will visit the ruins of the Venetian castle and admire the view from the top of the mountain. Then the route becomes downhill where we visit the village of “Xynara” which from Venetian times until today is the seat of the Catholic Archbishopric.
Finally our route ends back at Loutra.
