Mountaineering on Mount Olympus Claimed

Our hike will start from Gortsia, at an altitude of 1,120 meters, through a dense beech forest alternating with pine and fir trees. After about 5.5 kilometers and 3 hours of scenic hiking we will see the prestigious and fairytale-like Petrostrouga refuge at 1,950 meters altitude where we will sleep for the night. At the lodge we will find hot food and warm places to quench our fatigue!

The next day, early in the morning, we will start the ascent to the plateau of Muses at 2,700 meters. As we climb up and out into the alpine zone, the panoramic view of the east coast will captivate our eyes. But what will fascinate you will be the sight of the ridge leading to the Muses Plateau and the throne of Zeus. The fatigue is gone and from here we will have the opportunity to see most of the 55 peaks over 2000 meters that Olympus has.

After 5 km and another 3 hours of hiking we will reach the plateau. There we will have a short break at one of the two shelters for some rest.

After the necessary brake we will continue our mythical ascent to the highest point of Greece.

The last section is 1.5 km long but due to the steep slope it will take us about 90 minutes to reach the coveted summit. The last 250 meters before the summit we will use all our climbing equipment.

At the top you will have the opportunity to admire and observe a 360° view, the most imposing landscape in mountainous Greece!

In our descent we will use ropes only to ensure our stability and only for the first 250 meters. On our way to the Petrostuga shelter we will make another stop at one of the shelters on the plateau for food and fun!

The same evening will find us resting and dining almost a thousand meters further down, in the shelter of Petrostrouga. After an enjoyable evening, on the third day in the morning we will start to descend towards the place where we started our adventure, reminiscing about the unique moments we experienced the previous two days.
