Hiking in Papigo Claimed

 ascent, we have excellent views of the Papigo Towers and Mount Nemertsika (in Albania), among others. We then descend to the dry (in the summer months) lake Xerolimni, formed by glaciers millions of years ago. After that, a steep hike to the lake, rewarding us with the satisfaction of climbing up, the Balkan goat population (goat-antelope) wondering what we are doing in their habitat and wonderful views of the Aoos Gorge and Mount Smolika (the second highest in Greece).

 Monodendron.

We walk in a varied environment, relatively rough in very few places, quite easy on most of its routes. It is wide gorge in some places, narrow in others, and the pass offers a unique combination of short duration (6 to 8 hours) and excellent views.

We rest in picturesque places, such as the sources of the river Voydomatis, one of the cleanest rivers in Europe and end our hike at the village of Vikos or the village of Mikro Papigo.
